Violence against women and girls is a global phenomenon that constitutes a serious violation of human rights, and affects women’s lives in all aspects and society as a whole. The evidence is that in times of crises in general, women often suffer more than men because they are more vulnerable, meaning that they are the weakest on the ladder of rights and have the least sources of social power, whether symbolic or material
Women are victims of violence because of their gender, and violence against women is a manifestation of gender power inequality. The right of women and girls to a life free from violence is a legitimate human right, but the reality is completely different from the legitimacy of those rights, and this happens everywhere
